The practice network GO IN localised in the region of Ingolstadt (Bavaria) is a Resident Doctors’ Association whose doctors are practicing in all different medical area of expertise. GO IN was founded as special interest group for the SHI-physicians of Ingolstadt and the environment (in the meantime known as Region 10 – which includes the districts of Ingolstadt-Eichstätt, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen and Pfaffenhofen) on 10th August 2000. GO IN is a registered association with presently 486 members (medical specialists and family doctors) and hence one of the five biggest practice networks in Germany. The following medical sections are represented in the network: specialist physicians for general medicine, specialists for internal medicine, specialist physicians for gynaecology, orthopaedics, ophthalmologists, paediatric surgeries, specialist physicians for otorhinolaringology, specialist physicians for surgery, specialist physicians for dermatology, medical specialists, specialists for radiology, special physicians for urology specialist physicians for neurology, special physicians for psychiatry, special physicians for cardiology, anaesthetists and laboratory specialists. The GO IN doctors care for about 200.000 enrolled patients in the region. GO IN runs own emergency practices in the clinical centres of Ingolstadt and Neuburg as well as a children emergency practice, also located in the clinical centre of Ingolstadt. All three emergency practices were built in cooperation with the Association of statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Bavaria (KVB) and the founding body of GO IN and are run by GO IN and the stand-by duty of the family doctors in Ingolstadt and Neuburg.
Furthermore measures and activities of the network: guidelines, an own patient magazine, which is edited six times a year, a professional network office, quality circles and continuing medical education. Already in 2003 GO IN got a certification for the whole networking process. Within GO IN exists framework declarations, which include an electronic data exchange. The local nursing homes are cooperating with GO IN. GO IN has also various experiences in accomplishment of pilot schemes. Since June 2009 GO IN is a member of the ByMedConnect Project established by the Helmholtz Centrum Munich.
